Changes to the NVC have been made since the last release v1.97 (2026-01-29). For your reference, please find a summary of the changes below:

Vaccine lots

• Refer to the 'Vaccine Lots' tab in the Excel workbook to view which specific vaccine lots are new. Column C contains a flag indicating whether a lot is new (marked as 'YES' or 'NO'). You can also find these flags in column N of the 'LotTradenameMapping' tab
• Note: Z011133 (new)
  • Internationally sourced lot from the United Kingdom through Health Canada's Regulatory Operations and Regions Branch (ROEB) exceptional importation pathway due to shortages. As an internationally sourced product, no DIN was assigned by Health Canada; however, the product is equivalent to MMR II. This lot is linked to tradename SNOMED CT code 380541000087106 ([MMR] M-M-RVAXPRO).
  • The relationship between tradename 380541000087106 ([MMR] M-M-RVAXPRO) and DIN 00466085 (MMR II) has been severed, based on this updated information received from Health Canada.

NVC application version: 1.4.9 deployed

We are excited to announce several new features and updates to the National Vaccine Catalogue (NVC), aimed at enhancing the overall user experience related to vaccine lot expiry dates.

New Expiry Date Field in Excel Workbook

• A new column has been added to the following tabs: Vaccine Lot, LotTradenameMapping, and LotAgentMapping.
• This column contains a Boolean value (YES or NO) indicating whether the lot expiry date has been updated since the previous NVC release.
• Updates may reflect a shelf-life extension or data reconciliation activities.
• The NVC Excel workbook Data Dictionary has been updated accordingly, with the new fields highlighted in yellow.

New Expiry Date Filter in the Vaccine Lot Browsing Table

• A new filter called "New Expiry Date Since Last Release" has been added to the vaccine lot browsing table to identify vaccine lots for which the expiry date was updated since the previous NVC release.
• The data dictionary has been updated to include the definition of the new expiry date indicator.
  • A Boolean value (YES or NO) indicating whether the lot expiry date has been updated since the previous NVC release. Updates may reflect a shelf-life extension or data reconciliation activities.

New Expiry Date Note

• The following note has been added to the vaccine lot details page in the browsing table, the website data dictionary, and the Excel data dictionary:
  • Note: Expiry dates displayed in the NVC may differ slightly from those shown on product packaging. The NVC displays exact expiry dates (day, month, and year) provided by Health Canada through the BRDD lot release program, based on technical documentation submitted by manufacturers for quality and regulatory purposes. Product packaging is only required to display the month and year, which is understood to indicate validity through the last day of that month. While manufacturers may include a specific day, the month/year format is commonly used due to label space limitations.
